Energy Efficiency Technologies Conference

Electrical energy is the backbone of human civilization. The cost of energy has been increasing in leaps and bounds. Besides, ever increasing environmental pollution is a global issue to tackle since it leads to worse climate change. Energy conservation has become imperative in addition with gradual increase in deployment of renewable energy generation. Energy consumers are keen to minimise energy bill without sacrificing its utility as well as business efficacy and products. There is a huge need for the deployment for energy efficiency technologies for thoughtful effective use of energy. There are Initiatives and Energy Development Strategies across Africa for the increase in energy access to the African people, improve livelihoods and to ensure environmental sustainability in line with sustainable development goals (SDGs). The Energy Division of the African Union (AU) is the custodian for necessary intervention in the implementation and accomplishment of these objectives.

International Energy Agency (IEA) is also embarking on global energy efficiency agenda as African success. The IEA is focusing on enhancing energy efficiency deployments through raising the level of support to stakeholders and policy makers, as well as by encouraging Governments for stronger policy action in collaboration with the African Union (AU). African energy Commission (AFEC), an organ of the AU, is active in collecting energy data statistics from all AU Member countries with the help of the African Energy Information Systems (AEIS). Global Commission for Urgent Action on Energy Efficiency is also active for further engagement in implementing universal access to reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy by exploring energy challenges and opportunities across Africa. It is apparently clear that the aforesaid endeavour and experience of AFREC in energy data collection, statistics management and capacity building will lead to further encouragement to coordinate all stakeholder entities across the globe to support execution of increased energy security for expedited clean energy transition in Africa.
